In software testing test metrics play a significant role as they provide the QA test management team a fair idea of the status of the testing process. This helps the test team to make important decisions to rectify any issues that they come across. Now in order to come up with accurate measurements, the test team must keep in mind certain factors while gathering metrics. 

The test management team must make sure that the measurements are comprehensible and to the point. The metrics gathering process shouldn’t be time consuming and only those metrics that are important and useful must be collected. And most important of all is that never should the metrics be used to evaluate the performance of the tester. If the test team abides by these factors then they can come up with precise and accurate measurements.
