Test Management for QA Teams

Page history last edited by david 15 years, 10 months ago

Testing and validating the software is an important part of the software development process. Test management handles the organization of test cases and implementation of its results. Effective test management ensures that the new or modified software product serves the purpose for which it has been developed or enhanced and that the test plan is effectual, competent and financially viable.

The process of test management consists of organization, planning, authoring, execution, and reporting. This produces a great amount of information and the metrics obtained help to define, measure, and track quality goals for the project. Testing also tracks defects which are an important source of quality metrics and effective defect tracking is very crucial to both the testing and developing team.

There are several challenges that test management team’s face, such as limited time and resources, collaborating with globally dispersed testing teams, problems of linking testing with requirements and development, reporting the right information and finally delivering the tested software to the market on time. Anybody would agree to the fact that there is the need for improved quality in software development and it’s possible only with the development of effective tools and test management systems.
